Assessment Methodology
A rigorous, transparent evaluation process designed to validate professional competence through structured academic assessment.
Our Assessment Approach
UKPSA's assessment methodology is built on the principle that professional competence must be demonstrated through evidence, not merely claimed. Our evaluation framework combines structured portfolio review, expert panel assessment, and competency mapping to ensure that every certification decision is fair, rigorous, and defensible.
Assessment Principles
Evidence-Based Evaluation
All assessment decisions are grounded in verifiable evidence of professional competence. Candidates compile a structured portfolio demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and professional achievements against defined learning outcomes.
Expert Panel Review
Each portfolio is reviewed by a panel of qualified assessors comprising academic specialists and industry professionals. Panel members are selected for their expertise in the relevant discipline and their commitment to assessment integrity.
Competency Mapping
Assessment criteria are directly mapped to programme learning outcomes. Every element of the candidate's portfolio is evaluated against specific competency descriptors, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the qualification requirements.
Transparency & Appeals
Candidates receive detailed feedback on their assessment outcomes. A formal appeals process is available for candidates who wish to challenge a decision, ensuring fairness and accountability throughout.
The Evaluation Process
Application & Eligibility
Candidates submit an initial application specifying their professional background, target qualification, and evidence of relevant experience. The academic team confirms eligibility against the minimum requirements for the chosen pathway.
Portfolio Development
Guided by an assigned academic adviser, candidates compile a structured portfolio of evidence. This includes professional documentation, reflective accounts, certificates, and employer references mapped to specific learning outcomes.
Panel Assessment
The assessment panel reviews the portfolio, evaluating each evidence element against the competency framework. Where additional clarification is needed, the panel may conduct a structured professional interview.
Certification Decision
The panel issues a formal decision: full validation, partial validation with recommendations, or referral for additional evidence. Successful candidates receive their IACC-accredited, IVQA-verified diploma.
